Using facebook to promote events

Facebook is still a major player when it comes to promoting live events. Although we’ve seen an increase in brands using Instagram and LinkedIn to engage audiences, Facebook is still an incredibly well-used event resource.

But where do you begin? Here’s how you can make the most out of Facebook and see your event sky-rocket:

1. Spend time creating your Facebook Event Page: Write a super-engaging description highlighting the benefits of the event and make sure you complete all of the gory event details. Facebook uses an incredibly sophisticated algorithm to reach audiences, so the more info you include, the better.

2. Add your event to your company page: It shows it’s a legit event and will help improve reach to your company contacts. Plus, it means you can engage with your event under your company brand (as well as your personal account, sneaky).

3. Invite friends: And by ‘friends’ we mean ‘network’. People are more inclined to want to go to events that look popular or have a high number of attendees, so try to reach those big numbers as early as you can.

4. Update your Facebook Event Page regularly: New pictures, posts and content keep your page relevant (and makes it more likely to appear on people’s timelines). Be careful not to spam though - it’s the quickest way to lose friends.

5. Cross-Promote: Hosting an event with another brand? Be sure to add them as a host so you can reach their organic audience as well as your own!

6. Create an advert for your event: You’ve got a few options when it comes to promoting an event, from creating automated ads to setting specific goals. Invest some time in working out what’s going to work for you - or consider getting some outside help with the set-up.
