How to create a buzz before your event on social media!

Here are our top tips:

1. SAY IT LOUD & SAY IT PROUD

Get your event name and info out in the public domain early. Now is not the time to be allusive or vague. Make sure you’re clear about what it is and who it’s for, so it starts to feel familiar and secures a spot on someone’s radar.

2. ESTABLISH YOUR HASHTAG

All of the above applies to your event hashtag too. Start using it early on and treat it as a super useful tool to collate social media coverage and engagement.

3. ASSEMBLE YOUR SQUAD

It’s time to talk about who’s involved with your event. We don’t just mean speakers and CEOs. Tag the brilliant intern who’s spent hours putting together goody bags or the behind-the-scenes tech champ who’s made the whole thing work. It gives people a reason to share your content, so you’ll expand the network you’re reaching every time.

4. INDULGE IN A SNEAKY PEEK

Don’t be shy! Take snaps of anything fun that’s happening in the run-up to your event. Whether it’s beautifully created graphics or a bit of insight into what a certain speaker will be focussing on, it’s all good for the ‘gram.

5. OVER TO YOU

An easy way to accelerate your engagement is to turn the tables. Ask your audience what they’re most excited about or what they’d like to see at your event. Use polls, comments, or even DMs to chat to your followers and generate lively discussion.

6. TICK TOCK

Consider a countdown as your event approaches. We say ‘consider’ because this only really works if you’re confident you’ve got killer content to share. If you have, it keeps the event at the forefront of people’s minds and gives them a chance to reconsider if they’ve not signed up already.

7. DON’T FORGET YOUR CTA

Sounds obvious right? But you’ll be surprised by how many brands promote an event without actually including a call to action. You want to make it as easy as possible for people to find out more, sign-up and share. If there are still spaces available, then blooming well tell people!
