â›” After years of the US Committee on Foreign Investment (CFIUS) investigating TikTok for potentially sharing users data with the Chinese Government, the FBI has called for a ban on TikTok claiming that it poses a national security threat.
🔓 Tiktok has released new safety features for younger users with parents now able to see their child's activity on the app through “Family Paring”.
📱 After posting a poll that received over 15 million votes, Elon Musk has reinstated Donald Trump to Twitter, but Trump has said he won’t be posting.
âš˝ Twitter is now operating with 36% of its staff with many former Twitter staff warning that the app could crash, potentially forever, as a result of the increased use during the World Cup 2022.

📸 Instagram has implemented new tools to offer users more protection from seeing and receiving hateful speech after England’s loss in the 2020 Euro Final saw several English players targeted with racial abuse. Users can turn on “Hidden Words”, “Limits” and “Comment Detection” to help prevent receiving any harassment.

👤 From December 2022 Religious, Political, Sexual Preference and Address fields will be removed from Facebook Profiles. We assume that these fields have been removed since they no longer have any use for ad targeting due to Europe’s GDPR laws that require individuals to give explicit consent to be targeted by ads based on their health, race or ethnicity, political affiliation, religion, or sexual orientation.
🔞 Meta are currently testing ways to protect teens from messaging “suspicious adults” they aren’t connected to. A “suspicious” account is one that belongs to an adult that may have recently been reported or blocked by a young person. New notifications within the app will prompt young people to report/block accounts they may receive inappropriate messages from.
