Why you NEED to plan your email strategy up front
When it comes to creating a campaign, emails are often front and centre. They’re a way to communicate with an engaged audience directly, and provide ample of opportunity to get creative, by embedding videos, links, polls, and more. Plus, they’re super helpful when it comes to capturing engagement too, providing useful stats and audience insight. 📈
With that in mind, it’s really important to plan your email marketing strategy early, and deliver content that generates ‘sign me up’s!’ instead of unsubscribes. 😟

Start early 📆
Lead time is key. Plan your e-marketing journey early and think about what you want to deliver, and when. One email per month for six months is going to be a lot more effective than six emails in one month.
Develop a voice 🗣️
You want your audience to enjoy receiving comms from you, so give yourself enough time to develop a tone of voice they’ll begin to recognise. Keep your style consistent to create a sense of familiarity and trust.
Clever content 💡
By starting your strategy early, you’ll give yourself time to understand what’s working - and what isn’t. Utilise subject line tests and deep-dive into heat maps to find out what’s getting the most engagement, and use that intel to shape your next steps.
Mix it up 📧🔃
Your emails don’t need to follow the same format every time. Add in video content, guest writers, Q&As, and more, so people aren’t reading the same thing every time they click ‘open’.
Short is sweet 🍭
A well-thought email strategy means you can feed your audience info in smaller chunks. Smaller chunks equals more digestible. Short but sweet emails are more likely to get read in full, whereas text-heavy essays are going to turn people off.
Quality and Quantity 📈
By giving yourself time to develop a sensible strategy, you’re going to deliver a better quality of content. You’ll have time to get comms proof-read, double check links and go the extra-mile to give your emails the edge.
