Stepping Back into Live Events

5 THINGS TO CONSIDER AS WE RETURN TO LIVE EVENTS

For the events’ industry, changes around Covid restrictions on 19th July in England mean one thing in particular: the return of live events.

Whilst this is obviously mega-exciting, there’s still a whole heap of unknowns and nobody’s quite sure what the events’ landscape is going to look like. So before you get too giddy, here are some things to consider:

1. It won’t be the same
Covid has created irreversible changes in our day-to-day life. Even with all restrictions dropped, your event is still likely to be dotted with sanitation stations, healthcare signage and people wearing masks.

2. Not everyone’s ready
Some people are desperate to dive back into ‘normal’ life but lots of people still feel nervous about big events. Be prepared to answer questions around safety measures from guests and speakers, and don’t take it personally if people decline your first invite.

3. It’s chock-a-block out there
It’s not just venues with an 18-month backlog - you need to think about things like caterers, AV techs, entertainment…and everything in-between. You might have some brilliant ideas but you’ll need to plan ahead if you want to get exactly what you want.

4. Diaries are filling up
Even if you get the go-ahead for your event, Joe Public has got a lot of catching up to do. Diaries are filling up with postponed celebrations, holidays, appointments and networking events. Choose your dates carefully!

5. It’s still a gamble
Even if absolutely everything goes to plan, it only takes one key speaker to get ‘pinged’ to throw everything into disarray! It’s still a very turbulent time out there, so make sure you have a back-up plan.

At Unite Marketing & Events, we can’t wait to experience the buzz of live events again, in whatever form they take.
