Q&A with our Talent Officer, Caroline!
It’s been quite the journey! As we continue to scale the team and welcome new people on board, we’re delighted to introduce a number of new faces to the unite family.
In the following weeks we’ll be sharing a little more about each one so you can get to know everyone a little better, who they are, what they do and what they bring to the table.
First up, introducing our Talent Officer, Caroline.
What made you decide to work in recruitment?
I fell into recruitment! I was travelling and once I landed in Australia I needed to find some work. I saw a role advertised on gumtree (back then that was normal) and got the job supporting consultants with reviewing CVs and screening candidates. When I finally arrived back in the UK I wanted to move to London where the same company had an office and the rest, as they say, is history.
Before you joined us, what were you doing and what are you most excited about by joining us?
Before I joined I was a Support Manager on a Health to Work programme. I was helping people that had been out of work long term become job ready through upskilling, supporting other barriers and also searching for their next role. Very rewarding. I am most excited about joining unite because whilst there is many years experience in the sector, it's still a young organisation so I feel the opportunities are endless.
What do you love the most about recruitment and matching our clients and candidates?
What I love most about matching candidates with clients is the relationship and trust you build. A person's career is a huge part of their life so it needs to be right. If you can make that happen it's a great sense of achievement. If you find a job you love, you will never work a day in your life! From the clients perspective, I also like the idea that the person I have found often out of loads of applications is a win!
For candidates looking to find their next dream role, what's your advice?
For anyone looking for their next role I suggest you always have an up to date CV handy. Delays can cost you your dream job. Also, if something feels right but some details aren't quite hitting the spot, don't let it put you off. For the right person most employers are willing to be flexible.
Where do you hope to see yourself in a year's time?
In a year's time, I hope the business will see the impact of my contribution, I hope to be working with our same loyal clients and establish some new long lasting relationships with clients and candidates.
